..yeah, "rich".
Frankly, they are horrible to work with.
So, here's how Beta looks like now for Windows crowd, if they update to0.7.0.7 0.7.0.8:
Regular users will have to wait a little more as this undergoes minimal testing and further tweaking.
* It's the only way I can style these.
* Ugly HUGE buttons.
* If there are a lot of lines they clip off.
* Can't stay onscreen indefinitely, will be hidden in the Notification Center in 25 seconds (those who wanted it - rejoice), that is minimized to a tray icon.
Note the separation of group and personal messages. Maybe it's a good idea overall.
Click on the notification closes it and opens the corresponding message center area (inbox or group) and closes the notification.
"Open all" does what it did in the old ones: opens a message center tab for every class, and closes the notification.
"Dismiss as read" marks all messages as read and closes all notifications. There is no way currently to make it granular (inbox/group), but I can in theory make it so.
Edit: Oh, and another thing. By now the Options page is a horrible mess, and requires complete teardown and rebuilding more than ever. However, getting the notifications working again is a higher priority.
Feedback please!

0.8.1.2: Minimal Eclipse compatibility
TL;DR: There's a new version for Chrome and Firefox that "supports" Eclipse
Wait, what? A new version? This is not dead? It's been years!
Yes, indeed! I apologize for the time it took me to do that; I have stated in many places that my interest in DeviantART has waned, and with that it was hard to focus on providing support for this extension.
Until now I was happy stating that the Notifier likely breaks with Eclipse enabled, and leave it at that. But with DeviantART putting an expiration date on its "v7" old interface, I decided to see how hard it would be to adapt the Notifier to be workable under it. Turns out, about half a day.

Quick note about Eclipse
Fellow deviants,
This is a quick note regarding the interoperability of DeviantArt Eclipse and the Notifier.
As is, if you enable Eclipse preview:
* The Notifier keeps getting data from the servers just fine for now.
* Links from the Notifier are no longer valid. (This can probably be fixed to some extent, by linking to (general) categories in the new UI.)
This will probably not be the case once DeviantArt shuts down the old infrastructure.
When that happens, the Notifier is likely dead in the water without significant re-engineering (for example, use of the official API).
Sadly, my own interest in DeviantArt has waned; to that end, I'd
Notifications on Windows 10
Hello all,
A few reports have filtered to me that notification popups (toasts) are not working like they used to on Windows 10; I have investigated it (special thanks to veilune (https://www.deviantart.com/veilune) who helped me), and here goes:
What happened?
Chrome 68 started rolling out integration of notifications into Windows notification center.
They only work that way for 50% of the users as part of the staged rollout, so not everyone will see them now. But eventually, this will be the standard for Windows 10 users.
Here's how they look now:
TL;DR: I don't have control over how the notifications are presented by Chrome, but you can override it either way.

0.8.0: EARLY PREVIEW Firefox version
Yes, it's really happening, you're not dreaming..
An EARLY PREVIEW version for Firefox 55+ is ready for testing.
You can grab it here: https://kashev.me/da-notifier/
As noted on that page, this version may be broken, incomplete etc.
If I did everything correctly, it should auto-update when I have further FF fixes/adaptations.
If you're brave enough to test it, please report back on how it performs.
I will soon roll out the same version to Beta channel for Chrome.

I really dislike the newer type of notification that pops up (the one shown in the journal). I liked the previous one where it was a green rectangle and text. I hope you make it so we can choose the type of notifications we pick again!
If this was the setting to change the style of notification, I can't toggle them. gyazo.com/bfc499bc05e500a395ae...
Thanks for bringing back the desktop notifications by the way.
